Genius Hour TED Talk

Hello everyone! The past few weeks we have all been busy with our research and discoveries for our Genius Hour Projects! The time has come to wrap it all up and display our findings. Below is a Youtube TED Talk provided by yours truly about my Genius Hour Project. In this video you will discover and learn about the Ontario Provincial Parks and some of its driving routes. Sit back, relax, and enjoy my discoveries and then go and explore what Ontario has to offer!

  1. I loved the musical interlude and the backdrop you decided to use to film your TED Talk! Makes it really interesting to get into and went with your genius hour questions really well. Loved the personal connections you made to your genius hour question and the background/ history. As for technicalities, love the transitions between videos! Only a select few are a little bit jagged in transition when it suddenly cuts off (ex: around the 8:30 mark and 10:40). You have really great expression throughout the video, really clear and easy to understand :) That being said, the video seems a little long, I'm not sure if you can cut anything out because everything seems great and relevant but you may lose the audience's attention in the middle due to its length. I wish I would also see more of the background/ park that you're in! Maybe you could even pop in some pictures of the places that you're talking about in the video for some visual aids for the audience.
I am also a camper, but your genius hour ted talk has inspired me to explore other areas of Ontario that I haven't camped at yet!

    1. Thanks for your input Britney! I actually had a lot more to say then I thought I would and had to cut out quite a bit and I still went a bit over! I'm glad that this helped inspire you to explore some more! Happy camping! :)

  2. Hi Emily! Content wise I think your TED Talk is incredibly informative. It's been years since I've gone camping and I'd love to start again, soon. I had no idea about the rating levels of parks nor the pre-planned driving routes, thanks for that info! Just a comment about the lighting, the glare from the sun was a little distracting, but later in the video it looked a lot clearer. I can't believe how much driving you did! Your GH topic sounds very fun and inspiring. My dad is always trying to get my to camp and go canoeing with him. Maybe I can offer some suggestions now. Happy camping!

  3. Thanks for the comment David! Unfortunately the sun did get a bit bright and caused some glare at some points! I hope you can offer some new suggestions now! Good luck! :)
